Overview: A farmer’s job is to plant, cultivate, perform post-harvest duties, overseeing livestock, and supervising farmhands and laborers depending on the farm type.

Geography at work: A geographer would make an excellent farmer due to their knowledge of soils and erosion, crop knowledge, and water conservation. A farmer with a background in geography will also recognize their farm’s wider impact on the environment and the ecology of the local area.

Skills: Special crop knowledge – watermelons, transportation to markets, soil, water, demand, pesticide use; hydrology; soil types and erosion; weather and meteorology
