Overview: Port managers are a type of logisticians who analyze and coordinate the supply chain focused on the shipment of goods through seaports. They must be able to direct materials, develop relationships with clients, then strategies cost and time needed to transport goods.  Geographers are well equipped to understand the movement of goods, people, or supplies. Geospatial technology is used in the planning and tracking of how and where products move around the world. Port managers oversee how products are acquired, allocated, and delivered through major seaports. Most port managers work for manufacturing companies with some working for the government and wholesale trade. Managing the products and supply chains is important to profitability, therefore the job is expected to grow in the next decade.
