Overview:  Childcare workers work in early childhood development and work in nurseries or day care centers, as private nannies or childcare providers, or preschools to help young children prepare for kindergarten. They help foster skills such as sharing, basic language and counting skills, and leading activities such as arts and crafts, music, and gym. Basic geographic knowledge and skills would be beneficial for all childcare workers, for instance if children under their care come from different backgrounds and cultures that may not speak English at home, certain lesson plans that may implement very basic geographic knowledge, and a broader understanding of the culture and demographics of the location in which the facility is located.
