Overview:  Actors perform in film, television, plays, and musicals, often portraying a fictional character or a historical figure. Depending on the job or role they are playing, it may entail relocating to another state or country throughout the duration of filming, or run at a theater. Having a geographic background would greatly benefit actors in several different ways. For actors who really want to embody the character in which they are playing, they might learn about the cultural, societal, and demographic history of the location in which they are written to be from, and how that might impact their performance and behavior. If filming in an unfamiliar or foreign location, having knowledge over the history and culture of the location could make for a more enjoyable experience, and help them better assimilate with permanent residents of the filming location.
