Overview: Insurance claims examiners review insurance claims and assist adjusters with complicated claims. They make sure the all the insurance policy procedures are followed correctly. They will also step in when there are a large number of claims that come in at once, for example when there is a natural disaster. They are usually the last step in process for insurance claims, paying out, denying, or referring a claim to an investigator. They may specialize in a type of insurance from home, car, business, or health. Examiners also may review insurance applications to avoid extra risks for the insurance company.
