Overview: A insurance claims adjuster investigates insurance claims to ascertain the extent of liability that the insurance company has in the claim. They inspect homes, offices and automobiles, along with interviewing claimants and witnesses to determine how much money will be paid. Those geographers most interested in this work might include hazards and environmental geographers. An insurance adjuster must be knowledgeable about a large variety of hazards, such as fires, floods, earthquakes and car accidents.
