Overview: Front-end Web Developers are a type of web developer who design website and are responsible for the look of the site. They will also create content for websites including graphics, maps, and visualizations. In general, web developers should be able to work with clients on design, test applications, write code, work with other team members, integrate graphics, and monitor web traffic. Front-end web developers will create the sites’ layout and content. Geographers with experience in computer coding languages would work well as site developers through understanding mapping and visualizations. They would also understand the importance of data and information management through field research in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. This field will continue to grow in the coming decade. Front-end web developers are responsible for how a website looks. They create the site’s layout and integrate graphics, applications (such as a retail checkout tool), and other content. They also write webdesign programs in a variety of computer languages, such as HTML or JavaScript.
