This job helps in creating communities and accommodating population growth. Transportation planner is responsible for identifying transportation needs and issues, assessing the impact of services or systems, developing possible solutions for current and future needs and communicating with local authorities and the public. Important geographic knowledgeable includes zoning, land cover and land use.
