Overview: This position serves and assists the geospatial needs of all students, faculty and staff as well as interested members of the San Marcos Community.
Geography at work: In order to be able to serve and assist all faculty, staff and students of Texas State with their GIS needs, one must be proficient in the usage of GIS software, as well as knowledgeable about how to find the appropriate spatial data needed to complete a wide variety of GIS projects. A university library GIS specialist must also be willing to interact and teach the student body, faculty and staff the skills needed to master GIS.
Skills: Guidance for research involving geospatial techniques, e.g. how to locate and access spatial data sets; helping with geospatial analysis, map making and converting data to other formats.
