Travel Grant Program
The National Center for Research in Geography Education announces the availability of travel grants to help defray the costs of participation in the 2018 Powerful Geography Conference, November 1-4, 2018 in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Please note that, due to limited availability of funds, the NCRGE Travel Grants are meant to only partially defray the cost of conference registration and attendance. There are two groups of funding available. A maximum of $400 will be awarded to individuals who are U.S. university students, K-12 geography/social studies teachers, and early career scholars (within the first 5 years of graduating with a PhD in geography/geographic education). A maximum of $300 will be awarded to individuals who are senior professors/ researchers.
In selecting applicants to receive awards, preference will be given to individuals who agree to participate in a research workshop supporting the Powerful Geography project. This workshop will take place during the conference and is designed to advance the development of Powerful Geography’s research component. Conference participants applying for a travel grant may indicate their areas of research interest related to Powerful Geography by completing the travel grant application form. Further details about this research workshop will be shared well in advance of the conference.
All travel grant recipients are also expected to be a full participant in the conference, including attending the closing ceremony.
Applications can be found here.
Completed applications are due no later than April 15th, 2018.
Applicants will be notified of the outcomes of their requests no later than May 30th, 2018.
